Abstract The infl uence of the components of metabolic syndrome (CMS) on the dynamics of neurological defi cit was assessed in patients with primary acute ischemic stroke associated with metabolic syndrome. A total of 102 patients — 68 (66.7 %) men and 34 (33.3 %) women aged 57 to 72 years. Patients were divided according to the number of components 3, 4 and 5 CMS. The examination included neuroimaging, clinical and neurological data and assessment of neurological defi cit by the scale NIHSS, Renkin and Barthel index. It was revealed that the number of CMS growth associated with the increase in the ischemic lesion and refl ects the deepening of the background of neurological defi cit, the slowdown dynamics of the recovery of neurological function, functional dependency and disability.
Key words ischemic stroke, metabolic syndrome, neurological defi cit
