Abstract The examination involved 114 girls, aged 13—18 years, with pathology of the female sexual system in puberty. and was accompanied by autonomic dysfunction (AD) in 96 cases (84.2 %). The sympathicotonic, vagotonic and mixed types of AD were found out; their character depended upon peculiarities in the hormonal status and pathological changes in the menstrual function. The most marked character of these signs was in adolescents with pubertal uterine bleeding and in girls having the vagotonic form of DM with the pain syndrome. The above neurological changes with an underlying hormonal imbalance were accompanied by haemodynamic disturbances in the cerebral vessels (in doppler investigation) with diff erent degrees of severity in the majority of the examined cases.
