Abstract This publication provides an overview of plenary sessions, symposia and Pro&Con Debates of the XXIst European Congress of Psychiatry (6—9 April 2013, Nice, France) that cover contemporary problems of classifi cation of aff ective disorders, personality disorders, stress-related disorders and schizotypal disorder. It is also discussed some advantages and disadvantages of proposed inclusion in the defi nition of schizophrenia such criterion as functional impairment.
