Abstract The modern views on options and techniques (inhalation, transdermal, oral, injection) of carboxytherapy application are described in the article. Analysis of the classical concepts of mechanical, physical, physico-chemical, biochemical and refl ex elements of CO2 metabolic cycle allowed to systematize the mechanisms that reveal the multifunctionality of its participation in many metabolic and refl ex processes of system of self-regulation of homeostasis and theoretically prove the application of carboxytherapy in physiotherapy, spa treatment, gastroenterology, anesthesiology, neurology, psychiatry and general practice care. The objectivity of copyright research emphasizes the section about the side eff ects and risks of its use. This information describes carboxytherapy as a contemporary, multiethiological off label use (use of drugs outside instructions) method, supplementing the prevention and treatment of various diseases.
Key words Carboxytherapy, neurology, psychiatry, clinical practice, off label use method (use of drugs outside instructions
