Abstract Trauma has become a symbolical category that is invasive in everyday life and has reached epidemic proportions. Trauma explain not only the origins of course of health-related problems, but also the consequence of exposure to violence. The growing number of forcibly displaced people constitute a great challenge for psychiatry nowadays.
