Abstract The purpose of the work is to determine the chronometric profi le of patients with depression using the Spielberger — Khanin test and to assess its diagnostic value at diff erent stages of treatment. A total of 97 patients with depression (main group) were examined, the average age was 40.94 ± 1.25 years, among them, 51 people diagnosed with depressive episode (F32 according to ICD-10) and 46 peop le diagnosed with recurrent depressive disorder (F33 according to ICD-10), as well as 64 practically healthy individuals, with an average age of 41.21 ± 1.21 years old (control group). We used clinical-psychopathological, psychometric (HDRS, MADRS scales and Spielberger — Khanin test), as well as psychophysiological methods using Reocom-stress software and hardware complex (manufacturer KhAIMedika, Kharkiv, Ukraine), with the function of recording the time of answering questions (response time). All the described methods were used twice during the study: with an interval of 17—19 days. It was shown that during examination No. 1, the average response time to questions on the scale of situational anxiety of the Spielberger — Khanin test in patients was 1.67 times longer than in healthy patients (4.77 ± 0.16 s versus 2.86 ± 0.11 s, p < 0.00001), and during examination No. 2 it was already 1.75 times more than that of healthy people (3.54 ± 0.10 s versus 2.02 ± 0.06 s, p < 0.00001). It has been established that during the treatment of patients with depression, the contribution of the time of response time to the questions of situational anxiety scale of Spielberger — Khanin test in the total informativeness of this complex investigation increases; and the contribution of traditional scores (in points) decreases. It has been proven that the reaction time to the questions of the Spielberger — Khanin test is an informative tool for assessing the quality of treatment of patients with depressions, especially at the stage of their recovery.
